Atelier.bim GmbH – Innovative Building Capture with Drones

At Atelier.bim GmbH, we combine state-of-the-art drone technology with advanced BIM software (Building Information Modeling) to offer precise and efficient building capture services.

Our specialized drones scan building structures quickly and with great detail, enabling us to create high-resolution 3D models.

These models are not only invaluable for architects and civil engineers, but also for maintenance and renovation planning. Our method is particularly effective for hard-to-reach or complex buildings. With Atelier.bim GmbH, you experience a new dimension of building capture that saves time, reduces costs, and delivers precise data.

Laser scanning is an advanced surveying technique where a laser beam is rapidly moved across the surface of an object to capture thousands of measurement points.

These points form a detailed 3D point cloud of the object, which is then used to create a digital model. The laser scanner captures the precise geometry and surface texture of the building or structure with high accuracy.

The process of laser scanning offers several advantages:

  1. Precision: Laser scanners capture measurement points with exceptional accuracy, allowing the creation of highly detailed and precise 3D models.

  2. Efficiency: The laser scanner can quickly capture large areas, significantly reducing the time required for data collection compared to traditional surveying methods.

  3. Completeness: Comprehensive data sets are generated, covering the entire surface of the object, including hard-to-reach areas or complex structures.

  4. Safety: Laser scanning allows for remote data capture, which is especially beneficial in hazardous environments or at difficult-to-access locations.

As-built modeling

As-built modeling:

As-built modeling is the process of using data from laser scanning to create an accurate digital model of an existing building or facility. This model is referred to as an As-Built model because it represents the current state of the structure or building.

The As-Built Modeling process includes several steps:

  1. Data Preparation: The raw data from the laser scanning are cleaned to correct errors and remove unnecessary points.

  2. Point Cloud Processing: The point cloud data are imported into 3D software and processed to create a representative depiction of the building or structure.

  3. Modeling: Based on the point clouds, 3D models are created that accurately represent the geometry, surface texture, and details of the existing building or facility.

  4. Texturing and Visualization: The models are textured and visually prepared to enable a realistic representation of the existing building or facility.

  5. Documentation: The As-Built model is documented and made available for further use and analysis, such as for renovation, rehabilitation, or expansion projects.

As-Built Modeling offers several advantages:

  1. Accuracy: The model represents the current state of the building or structure with high accuracy, providing a reliable basis for planning and construction decisions.

  2. Visualization: The model allows stakeholders to explore and visualize the existing building or facility in a virtual space before any physical changes are made.

  3. Planning and Analysis: The model can be used for planning renovation or expansion projects and serves as a reference for analyzing building structures and components.

Overall, laser scanning and as-built modeling play a crucial role in documenting and capturing existing buildings or structures and offer a valuable foundation for planning and implementing construction projects.
